Description
This coffee is from a small co-op in the Batak region of west-central Sumatra, cultivated on volcanic slopes near Padang. Each member produces roughly twenty-two sixty-kilo bags of green coffee. Many of these producers are women who unfortunately lost their husbands and family members during the 2003 civil war. Coffee production is a means of consistent support and work for their families. In addition to coffee, they also produce fruits, vegetables, herbs, and honey.
This Sumatran coffee is grown at 1500 meters. After it is processed, it is spread across patios to dry in the sun.
