Description

Othaya Farmers Co-operative Society Limited lies between Mt. Kenya and Aberdare Ranges, in Othaya Town, Nyeri County. Registered in 1956 as a coffee marketing society with an initial membership of 250 farmers, the Society is now comprised of 7 management committee members and 16,162 small scale coffee farmers with about 2 million coffee bushes. OFCSL is a first grade Fair Trade Certified organization that supports farmers with nurseries for seedlings, 19 factories/wet mills, a member owned dry mill, and aid in sustainable farming through responsible agricultural practices. OFCSL creates opportunity for increased income, education, medical screening, and overall raised standard of living.

This Peaberry lot is grown October through December between 1,750 to 1,965 masl, carefully sorted, then fully washed and dried in Kenya-style drawers.
